Gran's 90th & a Dessert Buffet

Hubby's Gran turned 90 recently which is a pretty amazing milestone and one we definitely wanted to make a big deal of.

We hosted a family bbq at our home and as Gran is a bit of a collector of things, namely tea cups we chose a high tea themed dessert buffet.  The centrepiece of which was a stunning cake made locally which had amazing detail right down to the fondant teacup.

Gran recently gave me some stunning heirlooms, lace doilies which belonged to her Mother and Grandmother and I decided to use these as bunting.

As Gran's eyesight isn't the best at the moment, I described some of the details to her including her wedding photo and she loved the teacup which she got to see up close after the cake cutting.

She had a lovely night surrounded with love.

Some photos of the day.

  1. Very pretty Bec! That cake is amazing!!! Where did you get those tall jars from that hold the pink twirly thingys and the meringue??

  2. lovely table for no doubt a special lady.

  3. So lovely Bec! Definitely surrounded with love x

  4. Wow Bec, I cannot believe that I missed this!!!! What an AMAZING job you did, I bet everyone loved it. That cake is so impressive and I love all of your jars, the mini pikelet stacks and the trifles too!!!

I am in party mode too now, Mr B's 1st birthday next week. I am a bit sad - it has gone too quick xx

  5. Thanks Allison. Gran loved it as we all did. The cake was amazing and it tasted so good.

Ooh I know the feeling of time flying by. Miss 3 is soon to be Miss 4 and Master 19 will turn 20 in March. Can't wait to see pics of Mr B's birthday.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Feel free to leave a comment x
